I just read the arrest report which was filed by Sgt. James Crowley of the Cambridge police department. A Harvard professor, Henry Louis Gates Jr., was arrested outside his home for disorderly conduct. All Professor Gates had to do, to prevent his arrest, was to cooperate with a police officer. I don't care who you are, if you do not cooperate with the police to the point of belligerence and taunting, you WILL be arrested. This applies to ALL races.
Come on Professor, you're supposed to be a smart man. What don't you understand here? Do you think only because you work at Harvard and are an acquaintance, maybe even a friend of Obama, that somehow you need not obey the same laws as the rest of us? He's not quite King George III, professor....not yet at least! So it is no surprise that Obama would weigh in on this, defending the unruly Gates and calling the cops stupid. After all, if the cop is white the man in custody is a black Professor, it absolutely MUST BE a case of racism. This is the kind of irrational school-yard mentality which now eminates from the White House. And that's just the tip of the incompetence!
Be a man, own your actions! The over-abused claim of racism in this country is laughable. It is just another attempt to avoid and transfer responsibility. Is this really the message we need to send in this day and age, or any other for that matter? And when this bratty, child-like behavior comes from a so called "prominent black scholar", what kind of an example does that set? It's nothing to be proud of.
Are their cases of racism in this country? Of course there are! Is this such a case? I think not. Read the arrest report yourself. Americans, black or white, people of ANY color, this is shameful behavior, but you'll have to decide that for yourselves....
